Parent Connect
Parents,
This blog is for your enjoyment and to keep informed about what your child is learning for computer skills this year. In addition, this page has a Symbaloo to link you to various tools the teachers are using or suggest you use at home with your child or children.
Every lesson taught in my class enables the students to use technology to create something and gain more skills. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Kindly,
Mrs. L

Fourth-grade students made a tour of Washington DC using Tour Builder by Google. They had so much fun looking inside the White House and adding three Historic landmarks. It can be difficult to not get distracted with this fun mapping tool.
Later, students will use Screencastify to make a screencast to instruct on how to use Tour Builder. A screencast is a video lesson that shows how to use a program on the computer. Still learning so much!

February
We are searching, traveling and then writing a story about our travels this month. Learning some real life connections as we search!
Search Engines
1) Introduce students to how a search engine works. Watch Common Craft Video
2)Show students what a keyword is.
3)Show students where to see the number of search results and point out ads, and domains
4) Show and model to students how to cite sources for information and images
Searching for Information
Students will now take a Virtual Field Trip with Tour Builder. They will have to search for information to answer questions.
Storytelling with Information you Found
Students will create a Powtoons story about some aspect of Peru that they found interesting from the information they found.

January
The fourth-grade students are learning about verifying the reliability of a website through the use of Brainpop. After watching a video, taking a quiz, reading two articles, taking another quiz and watching a video on how to read a web page they had to figure out if a website was a real one or fake one. Love watching them using their skills!

January
Fourth grade students are using Brainpop to teach themselves about website validity. In the world we now live, we need to question everything. This is certainly much different than when I was their ages.
